First Light with D300. Comparison of ISO and Mode3.

ISO varied from 800 to 3200. Recorded as NEF 12bit, WB Daylight, converted to TIFFs in Capture NX, final processing in ImagesPlus 3.0.

For ISO1600, ISO1600 Mode3, & ISO3200 20subs each were taken, processed with darks, flats and bias, aligned and combined in ImagesPlus.

Mode3 accomplished by setting Long NR on and turing off camera power after each shot.

Finally all three sets of combined images were averaged with one ISO800 sub to get the last image in #8

The D300 appeared to be usable at up to ISO 3200. Mode3 images were not much different from standard images. For this subject there appeared to be no advantage to the extra steps needed to accomplish Mode3.
